Mortal Kombat 3  1995

The third game in the Mortal Kombat series. Following Shang Kahn's defeat in Mortal Kombat II, Shao Kahn merges the Earthrealm and Outworld. 14 selectable fighters (7 of them new to MK3), and one returning unlockable character, can be used to win the tournament and save the Earthrealm. Contrasting the cartoonish graphics of the other popular fighting game of the era, Street Fighter II and its many variants, Mortal Kombat 3 features almost photo-realistic characters who released excessive amounts of blood during combat. Fighters must win a Best of 3 series in each round of combat, advancing towards the boss stages in the tournament. When a fighter has been defeated twice in the series, the opponent is given an opportunity to perform a special move called a "Fatality": a particularly violent finishing move that kills and often dismembers the opponent. Babalities and Friendships are still present. New to Mortal Kombat 3 is the Animality, in which the winner turns into an animal to kill the defeated opponent. Only Jax and Sheeva can be selected in the shareware version. Parental discretion is advised.
