Originally an Amiga game, Body Blows is a fighting game clearly designed to look like Street Fighter II, but don't get too excited. Fighters can move in 8 directions, but there is only one button for attacking! The attack button must be used in combination with a direction, or it can be charged when pressed by itself to unleash a special attack. Suffice it to say that this limits the number of possible moves, and the decision seems to have been based on early joysticks only having one action button. As usual for the genre, players compete in a tournament and defeat a series of opponents in combat until they face the final boss. In one player mode, only four players can be chosen to play out the story. There is also a two player mode and tournament mode which makes ten of the characters playable. Only Dan and Ninja are playable in Team17's shareware demo, and they fight in only in Ninja's locale. Only Nik and Dan are playable in MicroLeague's shareware demo, and they can fight a best-of-3 match only in Lo Ray's locale.
