Ocean Software
Ocean Software was founded by David Ward and Jon Woods in Manchester, England. They developed a few original games before negotiating an agreement to publish PC ports of Konami arcade games in 1984, and Taito and Data East arcade games in 1986. Ocean soon became a major publisher of games for home computers such as the Amiga, Atari ST, Commodore 16, Commodore 64, MSX, ZX Spectrum, and IBM PC, and video game consoles such as the NES, Super NES, Sega Master System, Sega Mega Drive/Genesis, and Sony PlayStation. Ocean was also known for publishing games based on movies and television shows, such as Rambo and RoboCop. Ocean was acquired by Infogrames for £100,000,000 in 1996, and renamed Infogrames UK in 1998, and Atari UK in 2004 after Infogrames reincorporated as Atari SA.
