MicroProse
Microprose Software was founded in 1982 by Wild Bill Stealey and Sid Meier. It mostly developed and published simulation games, and made Sid Meier so famous that his name is placed in the title of any game he develops. MicroProse was purchased by Spectrum HoloByte in 1993, and Sid Meier and others left the company in 1996. In 1998, Spectrum Holobyte was purchased by Hasbro Interactive. Hasbro Interactive sold all MicroProse intellectual property to Infogrames Entertainment, SA (later renamed Atari) in 2001. Atari sold MicroProse to Interactive Game Group in 2007, and the MicroProse brand was licensed to the Legacy Engineering Group for consumer electronics. The MicroProse brand is currently owned by Cybergun Group, a manufacturer of airsoft gun products.
