I have a terrific old Sierra game, Conquests of Camelot, that I downloaded to DOS on my Windows 98 computer, but it didn't come up in colors. Is there anything I can do to get color? It's a great game, one I used to play on my Tandy SL1000, before the machine died on me.

It sounds like you have the CGA/Hercules mode/version rather than the EGA mode/version. I'm not sure if they were separate versions or if there was one version that could be set to either mode. If they were different versions, you're out of luck. If they were different modes, check for instructions on how to start the game in EGA mode. It's possible that the game auto-detects your graphics mode and it might be confused by your "modern" graphics card in your Windows 98 computer, so you should also try it in DOSBox so that you can emulate an EGA/VGA graphics card.
Today entirely the maniac there is no excuse with the article.

I think Sierra usually had an "install.exe" that you could use to select graphics mode. You might check if it's present in the game's directory and give that a shot.
