I go into Dosbox and start the game, and this is what I get:
Has anyone seen this before with this (or any other game)? If so, what do I need to do to fix it? Thanks.
Also, let me know if you need more information. You might but I decided to start with the basic question and add more detail if it's needed, instead of posting everything in the OP.

Wow. Okay. What graphics mode is this game supposed to use?

Oooh..don't know what the graphics mode is supposed to be. I looked through the documentation and it didn't say.
I'm using DOSbox 0.74. I didn't mention that in the initial post.

I figured it out from the screenshot.Godfather wrote:I'm using DOSbox 0.74. I didn't mention that in the initial post.
At this point, my best advice is to go into Options > DOSBox 0.74 Options (in the Start Menu) and find the "machine=" statement. SVGA_S3 is the default. This game might use a graphics mode that the S3 doesn't support, or the game might access the graphics card at a hardware level and/or may rely on undocumented features of the graphics chip that it was designed for, or it could be that DOSBox's S3 emulation isn't perfect yet. Try changing the machine to tandy, pcjr, ega, vgaonly, and vesa_nolfb and see if any of those solve your problem. I list tandy and pcjr first because the default machine definitely won't work if your game was designed for Tandy or IBM PCjr.

I'll try that.
Thanks--I know it was hard because you didn't have a lot of details (because I didn't).

OK, dunno if this helps or not.
These graphic emulations:
These ones:
I might try reinstalling. This is tough because the manual isn't on the replacement docs website and the company that made this game is defunct.
These graphic emulations:
cause Dosbox to just sit there with a blinking cursor forever when I type the command to start the game.hercules, cga, tandy, pcjr, ega

produce the screen mentioned above.vgaonly, svga_s3, svga_et3000, svga_et4000, svga_paradise, vesa_nolfb, vesa_oldvbe

So probably a VGA game then. There are still a few games that DOSBox can't emulate. If reinstalling doesn't help, I recommend posting on DOSBox's forums to let the developers know.
