Hey all, I'm trying to find a coupla games. Two I know the names of, and still can't find...
The first is where my namesake comes from, an RPG called Aspetra. I don't remember a whole lot about this except that the enemies in the battle sequences strongly looked as if they had been designed using MSPaint, and it was still a good game.
The second is another old RPG called Enchantasy. The website of the guy who created it has long since been removed from AOL's member pages, which is a shame, and nowhere I've looked has it.
The last was more of an action/puzzle game, with the main 'character' being a ball. The one thing I clearly remember about this game was the color, it was very vibrant. I also seem to remember different terrain types (acid that damaged the ball, ice that made it slippery, etc). It was vaguely like Marble Madness, escept it was overhead instead of isometric viewpoint.
Sorry if this seems like a lot, but I like to ask in threes, it's just how my mind works.

Facing terror isn't half as fun as sharing it.

Tsk tsk! You need to do more research!
I Googled "Aspetra", and the first site on the list contained a full version of the game, which also held two saved games. The files are archived as read-only, so you'll have to turn off the read-only flag to prevent the game from crashing. I went to my usual source for legal downloads and instantly found four identical shareware copies of the game, which tells me that there was only one version. I'll be adding the game to the site soon. You'll certainly have no trouble finding a full version of the game, but I encourage you to stick to the shareware version while I try to determine the legality of distributing the full version. I've played the game, and I can tell how much work went into it. The authors deserve to get paid for their work. I'll try to contact the authors to ask them about registration.
I Googled "Enchantasy", and the first site on the listed contained a shareware version of the game, which also held a saved game. I'll look for an unaltered original copy, but I didn't find one at my usual reliable source.
As for your Marble Madness clone, there have been far too many for me to determine which one you're remembering. If you Google "Marble Madness clone", you'll find a number of sites that have information and copies of Marble Madness clones. The first site on the list seems to be an excellent resource. If you figure out which one you're looking for, please post about it so that I can try it out.

I'm also looking for a game, I've googled for it, to no avail.
I believe from memory that the game was called outpost (essentially you're a fortress in the center and you have enemies coming from all sides different enemies had different strengths and could be destroyed with different weapon. I say that on the c64 if I recall back in the 80s but I heard it came out for the PC ... though the source isn' really reliable so I don't want to say it is for the PC.

Software often got ported to different platforms in those days, but it may not have been a big enough hit on the PC to be something DOS gamers would recognize. Fortunately the Commodore 64 has one of the most dedicated group of preservationists of any computer ever made. c64.com lists virtually ever C64 game ever made, listed alphabetically and with screenshots. You might recognize your game by going through the list. gamebase64.com and Cowering have developed a ROM tool called GoodGB64 that contains the SHA1/CRC32 values for possibly every C64 game ever made so that perfect copies of C64 games can be stored on modern computers and played in emulators. You should be able to find archives of GoodGB64 ROMs so that you can actually play the games to determine which one you're remembering.

There was a game I played many years ago in school. It was run on I think an Apple IIe (I know this is a dos games site, but maybe one of you knows which game i'm talking about). In it, you started out in Europe preparing your ship (buying supplies and recruiting people and what not). Then you made the trip over to the Americas. After that, you started a colony. It was meant as an educational tool. If I remember any more details, I'll post them.
