RGB Classic Games Forum

This is a brief summary of games suggested in the Game wishlist thread and elsewhere, exclusively for the DOS platform. The games are categorized by genre (according to the classification used at RGB Classic Games), with each game entry including the following information:

• a link to MobyGames for basic game information (if possible)
• download links for known versions of the game which are suggested for addition

The summary is updated as games are added to the site (or rejected), in which case the information about a game is moved from the list to a separate thread, indicating its new status (added or rejected). Similarly, new proposed games can be added from the main Game wishlist thread once there is information on known versions.

Supaplex, 1991 [liberated]

• freeware release: supaplex.zip

Supaplex appears to be a hugely popular Boulder Dash clone that was made freeware by the original publisher with approval from the original developers. The source code has been lost, but the DOS version was bugfixed using binary hacking, and there's also a faithful open source recreation.

Bref, 1997 [shareware, freeware]

This is a very nice and colourful SVGA Columns variant. Version 2.0 was released as freeware, previous versions were marketed as shareware.

NOTE: The game for some reason has graphical and sound glitches in DOSBox if you run it with Sound Blaster sound/music, but works flawlessly if you use Gravis Ultrasound -- DOSBox only needs to be set to gus=true, no additional drivers/patches are needed to be installed in ULTRADIR.

Die Pirateninsel, 1998

A neat SVGA Boulder Dash like game that is rather similar to Trugg -- each level/puzzle takes up one screen. It's in German only but knowledge of language is not really required to play. The demo (originally available from publisher's FTP) was kindly provided by Hallfiry from a coverdisk in his collection.
