Microsoft has opened the source for MS-DOS 1.25 and 2.00, and Word for Windows 1.1a. Unfortunately, there is a no distribution clause in the license that prevents me from putting a copy of these files on the site.

Re: Microsoft releases source code for MS-DOS and Word
Wow that's a real surprise! I never thought I'd see source code releases for MS-DOS! Hopefully we'll see releases from the newer DOS versions come out one day too.
It does give you a good insight into Microsoft's mindset though - when the code is 30 years old, there's no chance anyone would make any money from it, there are better alternatives for real-world use (like FreeDOS), and yet they still insist on having a no-distribution clause and locking it down so tightly just in case someone might do something interesting with it! Makes me glad I stopped using their products years ago
