Descent fatal error

Really want to play descent, but it can't start. It says
DOS/4GW Professional fatal error (1011): VMM initialization error [1]

It's a bit hard to figure out the problem with no information on your set up! Are you using the latest version of
DOSBox?

I'm on a Mac running it in Firefox with Java. Is there a DOSBox version for Mac?

Yes, you can download it on
DOSBox's website or the
DOS Utilities page.
You should be able to play it in your browser. Make sure you have the latest version of Java and Firefox.
