CD Man 1.5

Post by Qbix »

I think this was the shareware version of the game.
It features a real PAC-Man instead of a white fluffy character

I would like to get my hands on 1.5

Good grief! What a mess this has been!

Finding copies of CD-Man is easy. Copies with different-sized executables, with file dates between 1989 and 1993, all claim to be a Pre-release June 1989 version in the accompanying documentation, and none of them mention v1.5. They all say that you can buy v2.0, featuring "The Snoofer", for $35. And here's some fun trivia: supposedly legal DOS game sites are distributing a hacked copy of v2.0 which is full of messages from the Dead Pirates Society! So websites that can usually be trusted to find a legal copy of a game are distributing warez. How sad.

So, I failed. I can find no evidence that there was ever a version 1.5, and I don't know how I would identify it since every copy claims to be a pre-release from June 1989, even if the file dates are from 1993. There are so many different copies of this game floating around that it's hard to even be sure that a copy is genuine. The hackers of the world saw a Pac-Man game and couldn't wait to start messing with it. CD-Man appears to be a victim of its own appeal. I've sifted through enough garbage. If there was a v1.5, good luck finding it.
Today entirely the maniac there is no excuse with the article.

Thanks.
I only found those 2.0 versions (hacked or not).

Could you point me to those prerelease versions ?
If you can't find 1.5 then it might not exist after all. :(
