Re: Blackthorne
Good, but gets a bit repetitive towards the later levels particularily that wasteland level
The DOS version is the only version that has blood. It also has a soundtrack unique to that version. (all subsequent versions for consoles, handhelds and Macs were different and censored)
There is a Pentium problem with this game's speed. In 1994 it wasn't a big deal since only the rich and daring had Pentium 60/66's when this came out. With that in mind, this is definitely a game strictly for the 486 processor. Other 5th generation CPUs like the K5 and Cyrix5x86 suffer the same problem.
I think it works fine on 386 too, but I have not tested that yet. I can't see why it wouldn't, i mean it doesn't scroll or animate more than 64x64 sprites on top of palette cycling environments.

Re: Blackthorne
Apparently the full game can be downloaded for free from Blizzard (a Battle.net account is needed):

This is either a hoax, the game was pulled down again, it's not available in Europe or it requires Starcraft 2/Diablo 3/a WoW subscription.
It's not available on my bnet account.

Re: Blackthorne
Actually it turns out that you don't need an account after all:
https://us.battle.net/account/download/?show=classic
Just go there, works fine for me (the site even switches into Russian).
