Now that you've downloaded hundreds of awesome games, how are you going to organize them on your hard drive? Having trouble putting a description to a name? I've put this entire website (except for the Forum and Wiki) on a DVD, so you can keep track of where all of your games are, sort them by genre or publisher, and look up a description of each one. Plus, no waiting for downloads!

Boss blocked all of the gaming websites at work? No wireless internet connection on your laptop? Your retro computer just has a dial-up modem? Play your games wherever you want with this handy DVD-ROM! Thanks to JPC, you can even play most of the games on the site in your browser, which solves the problem of not having space on your network drive at school or work (not that we encourage that sort of thing), or a "cloud computer" that may not have a hard drive at all! Note: Java limitations prevent JPC from playing sound when run from the Classic DOS Games DVD-ROM.

Each disc is a Sony 16x DVD-R, burned with a Plextor PX-810SA, Plextor's top of the line DVD burner. Plextor has always produced the highest quality optical drives in the world. When review sites analyze the quality of DVD burners, they test the discs for C1 and C2 errors with a Plextor drive. Plextor is the standard to which all other drives are compared. Your disc will have maximum readability in any computer.

To maximize value for donors, I've come up with a way to make the Classic DOS Games DVD-ROM more collectible. Every disc is unique! There are two covers to choose from. The disc label lists how many games are on the DVD, what day the disc is a snapshot of, the value of the donation you made, and your disc number. Each disc is individually numbered, like a limited edition print (but without the limit). Discs are labelled with Memorex CD/DVD White Matte Labels, printed with a Xerox Phaser 6120N color laser printer for professional quality.

Jewel cases might crack during shipping, so DVDs are shipped in a Dynex CD/DVD Sleeve to protect them during shipping and beyond. They're made of soft plastic and have a special non-scratch sheet inside.

DVDs are shipped in a CD Bubble Mailer. Shipping outside of North America will cost overseas rates.

The DVD has 1.7 GB of stuff, plus 50 MB of "DVD extras", and there are no ads.

What does your donation do?
For legal reasons, donations are optional so that no one can claim that Classic DOS Games is selling the games that appear on the DVD. If you choose to make a donation, you're making a donation to Classic DOS Games. You are not paying for the games that appear on this site, nor does your donation register your shareware. My primary goal is just to break even on the cost of running the website. All of the money that this website receives will be used to pay for hosting and site-related expenses. On the rare occasions when the site has a surplus, all visitors can vote on how the surplus should be spent. For a detailed accounting of this site's finances, everything is listed on the Donations page.

When making a donation, please remember the expenses related to the Classic DOS Games DVD-ROM. The cost of producing and shipping the DVD within North America is around $5.
