I enjoyed this game more than it deserves, which is not at all. The other Moraff dungeon games had more awkward gameplay, but this one found the right balance of which keys needed to be pressed at which times, and how often you needed to replenish health/supplies/etc.
My copy of the registered version is labeled V6.1. Is this yet another version that's not on the site, or are shareware versions x.0 and registered versions x.1?
I downloaded 1.0 today and was really surprised by how much more primitive it is than my copy. Congrats to Steve Moraff for actually making significant changes to the game during its lifetime, all of which I feel only improve gameplay.

I wish I could answer that question. Unfortunately, all of my emails to Software Diversions for Steve Moraff have gone unanswered. What you see on my site is everything that I was able to find on shovelware CDs and reputable websites. I had no idea that there was a v6.1, but hold onto it! Moraff's World v6.1 is still sold for $10, or as part of the Dungeon Pack for $19, but it might not always be. Make a backup of anything you have that I don't, to make sure that it doesn't get lost to history.
By the way, Moraff's Dungeon Pack is a really great value. Revenge, World, and Dungeons of the Unforgiven are sold for $10 each, but the Dungeon Pack has all three, and Stones and Monster Bridge, for $19. Hmm, let me see. Should I buy one game, or five games for less than the price of two?

Re: Moraff's World
Man I loved moraff's world. I used to play it all the time! Wow, that was over 10 years ago now. I still have all of my original disks. I think I have them all backed up to CD but I should check again and make sure I do. I remember begging my dad to buy me the moraff's world games (something like 30 bucks for all of the games, unforgiven, majongg and all of the other stuff that came with it).
I remember having the shareware version that only went to level 16. To get around this I would cast spells to drop me to level 20 or 30 or whatever and before the screen would load up, I would cast another spell to teleport around the level. As long as the screen never showed, it worked and I was able to ascend back up and be fine. I was thrilled when I could go to level 25 or 35 and still play. Ah yes, good old moraff's world. To be young and have nothing to worry about but teleporting around a game.
I remember contacting Steve, oh, probably 6 years ago about reselling the dungeon games and they didn't plan on doing it. Glad they changed their mind and are selling it now. Any idea if the new ones they are selling are updated at all, ie new levels, dungeons, etc?

Re: Moraff's World
I've emailed Software Diversions (Moraff's distributor) about a dozen times since I started this website, asking to have my messages passed on to Steve Moraff, and I've never gotten a response. If you've actually had contact with him, you're well ahead of me. If you could tell me how you did it, I'd be most grateful.
Based on the version numbers, it appears that the classic MoraffWare games that are still sold haven't been updated since they were sold originally.

Again, a false positive, and even if it weren't, a virus from 1992 is unlikely to harm your computer now.dosdog wrote: ↑December 10th, 2024, 9:24 pm Virus detected in v4.0 download of Moraff's World: https://www.classicdosgames.com/game/Mo ... World.html
