After some confusion with a promotional Facebook/Steam giveaway, 3D Realms' Shadow Warrior has become permanently free on Steam.

Following a few circumstances I won't detail about, the above free release has been updated to include:
- A previously leaked 1997 beta.
- A never-seen-before 1996 alpha release.

Please note the the above builds are *not* included in Shadow Warrior Classic Redux.
They're also absent from Shadow Warrior (Classic), as previously available from the now-canceled 3D Realms Anthology.

As I said in the above forums, a lot of thanks to anybody who had some part in making this possible, even if it's just a small part.

By Shadow Warrior Classic, do you mean the free GOG version or the Anthology version?

As said above, I refer to the Anthology version. But it is also true that the free GOG.com version has not been updated, it seems.

BTW, just updating some more builds have been added. There is a currently a total of 8 such builds, including the 97-era leaked beta.

Note that in one of them, the EXE is AEGIS-protected, and this protection hasn't been cracked so far. It isn't clear how difficult it'll be to break it, but we still have the game data.
